Environment is the final “E” in E4 Scuba, but it doesn't mean it is less important. When talking about the environment it does not only mean the underwater environment ecologically speaking. It also includes underwater awareness, team awareness, and other activities such as beach clean ups, demos, dive club meetings, community services, charities, fund raisers, etc.

We could not dive - The coral reefs, aquatic animals, wrecks, underwater caves and other aquatic environments bring fun and enjoyment to divers.
We would not have oxygen - Phytoplankton, found in the oceans, is the main source of oxygen on the planet.
We could lose a main source of food.
Coastal communities could disappear - The worlds waters is a source of food and income for these communities. Not only does fisherman make their livelihood on the waters, it is also the livelihood of dive professionals and dive resorts.

The human impact and disrespect for the planet is taking its toll on the aquatic environment. Garbage ends up in the rivers, which flows to the oceans. The amount of oxygen in the water is diminishing, as well as the fish supply. Coral reefs, coral fish and a lot of other animals are dying, poisoned by oil spills. We cannot solve these and other underwater environmental problems on our own. We need the assistance and awa reness of the general public. As scuba divers, we have to work as underwa ter ambassadors and keep non-divers aware of what is going on with the underwater environment.
Divers and the dive industry are also responsible for the impact humans are having on the underwater environment. Fast and easy dive courses that do not properly prepare divers to interact with the underwater world, mostly due to poor buoyancy control, are also a reason for the destruction of the underwater environment. Humans do not belong underwater, but through dive techniques and equipment, we have been given the opportunity to venture into this fascinating world. Through proper training, divers can interact and enjoy the underwater environment for years to come.

You and your friends and family (divers and non-divers) can participate in our environmental activities. Check these links for more information:
